Glue Factory Show Intro

We’re making an animated dark comedy based on a series of NFTs we just released under the same name!

TLDR:

  • Animated series set in an alternate universe filled with horses based on an our NFT collection
  • Amazing team of comedy writers: Jon Barinholtz, Katie Rich, Colton Dunn, Rob Belushi, Jim Wise
  • Season 1 will be 6 episodes of 5–10 mins in length
  • Approx date for release Dec/Jan
  • Community Writers room brings YOU into the show creation process

Inquiring minds, let’s dive in a little more!

WHAT IS THE GLUE FACTORY SHOW?
It’s a show starring horses, the horses from our NFT collection to be precise and we’re not shying away from the reality of the lives of horses — the good, but mostly the bad and absurd. Glue Factory Show is told through the eyes of horses and a comedic lens set in an alternate reality on a world that is filled with… you guessed it, horses!

Expect themes that cover NFT culture, relationships and our inner hopes and dreams. Plus, like all good comedies, there will be just the right amount of underlying social commentary.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?
Series 1 will comprise 6 episodes as we explore this alternate universe. Attention spans are forever waning and our team are incredibly excited to really break new ground on the format here with our episodes bringing a whole world and it’s themes together in 5–10 minutes on average per episode.

WHO IS MAKING IT?
The initial concept was born from the mind of ‘The Collectors Wife’. Brought together by three friends (two married) from Australia who managed to get their wild idea in front of some of the most sought after comedy writers in Hollywood.

Our writing team all have a strong improv background, learning from the masters at The Groundlings, Second City and more, with each of the team boasting awarded resumes across writing, acting and producing.

The very first Glue Factory Show writing session kicked off today and we got to touch base with the writers following what sounded like a truly hilarious day of ideation and scaffolding for the series.

SO WHAT IS NEXT (WEN SHOW?)
We know a week in NFT land is like 3 in the real world so we want to be very clear with the timelines here. This show is going to take time. Why? Because we’re going to take the time to get it right!

Month 1: Writing and Refining.
We’re right here, right now. The writing is underway to bring the concept of the show to life. An awesome time for collaboration between both the writers and our community before the refining of the punchlines and ensuring the series has a cohesive story with the right through lines across the episodes.

Each week we will be setting up Community Writing assignments in our ‘Community Writers Room’ to bring YOU inside the creation of the series. We can’t wait to hear all the wild ideas that come from these assignments! More on this coming in the next article.

Month 2: Recording and Animation
Story is DONE, the script is DONE and now it’s time to lock in all the actors who will be a part of the series before hitting the recording booth.

This is where timelines may be a little tested. With Covid protocols it can mean there are limits in what can get done in a recording booth. The best outcome for the series is to have the team come together and record as a group when possible. The energy from these collaborative sessions will give the best takes and allow for unforgettable improv moments.

As the recordings come together we will begin the animation process. We don’t need the full series of recordings and audio finalised to begin the animation. We can make a start as the content comes in.

Month 3: Animation
If all goes to plan, this will be a big month of animation to bring the bulk of the episodes to life.

Month 4: More animation & an optimistic timeline for the first Episode.
If all falls in our favor, then we could have a complete show together and ready to roll out in Month 4. We always want to be transparent and realistic so we need to say, this would be the earliest possible time for release but there is a chance we push a month later.

Our community will be a part of the process the whole way and we will be providing constant updates. We have big plans for the Glue Factory Show and while there is temptation to get an episode live as early as possible we are taking a considered approach to really bring something special together!

We’ll be keeping the community across every aspect of the show creation (without giving away too much) and there will be plenty of BTS content and script teasers as we go.

We have some incredibly exciting partnerships in the works, which are going to benefit all aspects of the project from Glue Factory NFTs to the Glue Factory Show itself and this of course means great benefit to our community!

We know there are a whole lot of questions around the ‘Community Writers Room’, ‘Talent Fund’ and the plans for the Glue Factory NFTs, so keep an eye out for our next article dedicated to that side of the project!
